Our
integrated curriculum and learning area policies allow us to craft an approach that seeks
to meet each individual's cognitive, spiritual, physical, emotional, social and creative
needs.
The teaching of knowledge, skills and values is in accordance with the
student-based outcomes, as highlighted within the guidelines of Curriculum Framework and
the Catholic Education Office Progress Maps. By implementing these documents, we are able
to structure and provide a curriculum relevant to our students and school community.
| We are conscious of ensuring that the
curriculum is taught both developmentally and sequentially throughout the primary school
years. The integration of learning areas occurs by the teaching of a broader 'organising
concept' that correlates with the curriculum, is based on student interest, and is
contemporary and fun! The acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills is emphasised
greatly. We network with many outside agencies and 'specialists' to devise effective
models of pedagogy and practice.
We have in place some very explicit monitoring and assessment tools that advocate early
identification and intervention strategies. This is further complemented by the support
and extension programmes that we offer. |
