Senior School Curriculum

In Year 10, students commence the transition to Senior School. The students' program initially reflects some aspects of Middle School. However, by Semester Two, students have moved to a style of education that is in closer keeping to studies in Years 11 and 12. Like students in Years 11 and 12, our Year 10 students select a program of study to suit their individual needs.

Year 11 and 12 students have the opportunity to study a number of accredited subjects. They include Tertiary Entrance Subjects, Wholly School Assessed Subjects and VET subjects. The diversity of educational opportunities provides an environment for all students to feel comfortable with the educational pathway they choose. The Senior School prides itself on the outstanding individual and collective student results.

Throughout the Senior School, students are given personalised counselling with respect to their career ambitions. Students, along with their parents/guardians, are expected to meet with their course counsellor at least once a year to select subjects and discuss progress made in relation to their future ambition. Strategies are put in place to maximise each student's individual academic performance.

Sport

All students in the Senior School are required to participate in a sporting program. In Year 10, the focus is centred on gaining the appropriate skill level to field competitive teams in the Year 11 and 12 ACC inter-school competition. The College's performance in this competition has been exceptional. Students typically perform at an exceptionally high level.

INSTEP

Year 11 and 12 Senior School students may study Structured Workbase Learning.  In Year 11, Structured Workbase Learning looks at generic skills.   Students are placed in the workplace and are assessed on generic competencies.   In Year 12, students move into a more specific area of industry.  The competencies assessed are more specific to the industry that the student has elected to study.  Both the Year 11 and 12 Structured Workbase Learning courses are fully accredited and hence contribute towards secondary graduation.

Through Year 12, students have the opportunity to partly, or fully, complete Certification Courses in a range of industry areas.  The students achieve this by completing as many 'units of competencies' as they desire.

In recent years, the College has had students who have completed Certificate II Level courses in Tourism and Nursing.
